At Smyrna Seahawks Cheer, our cheerleaders play a significant role in supporting the Seahawk football players and promoting spirit throughout our program. The purpose of our recreational cheer program is to provide a wholesome recreational activity for girls between the ages of 5–11 years old that will help them to learn some very basic fundamentals of cheerleading. The goals of this program are:
- To aid our athletes in learning the basic skills of cheerleading.
- To aid our athletes in learning self-discipline and build positive intangibles such as teamwork, respect for authority and good sportsmanship.
- To teach the benefits of a positive attitude and building the spirits of others.
Participants will be challenged to be their absolute best in a nurturing and fun-filled environment. The Smyrna Seahawks youth cheerleading teams will build character, confidence, strength, friendships, and skills while building a tradition of success, both on the field and off the field. You and your child can help us carry on this tradition with the coming 2024 Season.
Cheer Practice begins in July and the season runs from August-to beginning of December. Practices are typically scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (days can shift throughout the season due to inclement weather). Games are held on Saturdays with each cheerleader assigned a designated team/game for the season.
See below for more information about Sideline and Competition Cheer.
Smyrna Seahawks Sideline Cheer – Is our program for kindergartners through fifth graders with scheduled practices and a game per week. This is a great start for kids who have little to no experience. We can guarantee that your child will learn all of the basics of cheerleading in a fun and positive learning environment. Sideline Cheerleaders cheer at ALL home games and AWAY games on Fall Saturdays.
Smyrna Seahawks Competition Cheer – Is our program for more advanced and/or experienced cheerleaders. Competition Cheer combines sideline cheering for our Seahawks football teams with preparation for and participation in local cheer competitions. Prior cheer experience is extremely helpful. There are no tryouts however individual assessments are made on every cheerleader when the season begins. Coaches will evaluate athletes based on age, tumbling, stunting, coordination/performance and jumps to divide into teams.
ATTENDANCE – Attendance is a big factor that determines our success. Competition Cheer Practice is MANDATORY as to prepare for competition season. Because every member contributes to the team, it is imperative that athletes attend. Poor attendance will result in removal from the team. Seahawks Competition Cheerleaders cheer at all games on Fall Saturdays.
